Hi,
I just wanted to let you know about Stereophonic going on tomorrow. The first one was a ton of fun.
dublab's very own Dr. Rock (Great Stone Sound) will be back in town to mash it up at the show. If you have never seen Dr. Rock live you need to check it.
dublab will be archiving the show so keep an ear open.
Peace,
frosty

--LA WEEKLY --- P'taah at Fais Do-Do.
Atlanta producer Chris Brann, along with DJ pals Deep C and Udoh, makes up the house-music success story Wamdue Project, which scored big time here and in the U.K. with the No. 1 platinum blah-blah-blah hit "King of My Castle." But this story is about Brann and his alter ego P'taah: It seems that Brann, though very talented at ripping house grooves and much in demand as a remixer, is feeling a bit confined within the house genre's stylistic restraints and, refreshingly, isn't all that hyped on remixing either ("I'm more into the artists' original intent"). Hence P'taah finds Brann stretching out, working with his trademark big, fat, warm organic sounds, but freaking it up with hypertech digital gizmologizms, strings and future-jazz breaks. His idea is to incorporate the spontaneity and diversity of the obscure jazz artists he admires, and he pulls it off with delicious style on his recent Compressed Light (Ubiquity). Seductive stuff, and a whiff of the future. (John Payne)
