What can I say? This was an awesome show, and if it comes to your town, you should see it. First up was the Beat Junks with an updated lineup... they rocked it.
Next came MC Supernate, who's kind of like a magician, doing "routines" such as "These 3 Words," "3 MC's" (with spot-on impersonations of various rappers of old, including Wu-Tang, B.I.G., etc.) and "Every Thing" in which everyone in the front row holds up something, and he constructs a rap about various pocket fillers such as cigarette lighters, condoms, tickets, even weed!
Dilated Peoples were the low point for me, high on energy and with some great cuts like "Triple-Optics." There show just didn't hit for me, though.
Of course, the main reason to go, for me, was the J5 crew, and their show is improving, if you can believe it. Cut Chemist and Nu-Mark are incredible and they do an awesome duet with CC on turntables while Nu-Mark rips on drum kit, drum machine, and turntables. Incredible.
