JIVA ("the spirit within"):
Hailing from Atlanta, GA, Jiva blends Neo-Classic Soul, Acid Jazz and Rare
Grooves to create a new sound for the conscious minded music listener. Their
Fender Rhodes driven rhythm section conjures House, Bossa Nova, and
Drum-n-Bass beats that can move any crowd. The soulful 4-piece vocal
section brings back memories of Brazil ’66 and the 5th Dimension. The Jazz
infused horn section rounds out this trinity of sound that skillfully
presents musical gems written and orchestrated by the band’s leader and
bassist, Khari Simmons.
Jiva's performances are high impact and substantive, guaranteeing the type
of energy and excitement that will keep people coming back for more. Jiva
will be previewing songs from their upcoming album, as well as performing
various classics. Jiva’s first release, the Millennial Bossa hit, "Stars"
features remixes by Frances’ Tom & Joyce, whose track "Vai Minha Tristeza"
was a huge club smash last year, and Tauriva (Atlanta’s DJ Injex & Jiva’s
Khari Simmons).
