The results of my most recent trawl through Juno's new releases turned up today. Some good stuff...

    Landslide - Incurable Voices (Hospital - NHS24)
This is basically a two-step rework (well, there are still a few bits left) of London Elektricity's "Incurable" (on the "Outpatients" comp.) It's just pure groove - you will want to dance.

Nuspirit Helsinki - Montana Roha Jazz EP (Jazzanova/Compost JCR010)
I bought this purely on the basis of a short MP3 sample and the fact that it's on Compost. It's a real find - true jazz in a modern style, but with a bigger band sound than say Erik Truffaz. The A-side "Orson" is kind of downtempo with great strings, but the highlight is "Seis Por Ocho" on the flip, which is more uptempo with some really nice horn work. Apparently there's an LP on the way on Guidance, which on the basis of this EP is worth watching out for.

    Ian O'Brien - Eden (Peacefrog PF10B3)
More funky stuff from Ian O'Brien. Two uptempo tracks, two ambient-ish things. Of the uptempo tracks, "Yemura" is a seriously funky afro-latin sort of thing with flute from Nathan Haines. "Eden" is more like an electro tune, with this cyclic keyboard riff, but with some quite jazzy changes going on. Hard to pin down but really very good.

Also finally got my hands on the "Co-operation" compilation. Probably not as rewarding as "People... Make The World Go Round" (no "Sound Orgy"/"Farside"/"Funky Apocalypse") but there's 5 really good tracks here (Murky Waters, Catalyst, G-Force & Seiji, Neon Phusion and Nu Era + Pavel Dego Kostiuk.) The thing that really strikes me about this stuff is that in terms of some of the sounds, this could fit right alongside 4Hero's "Parallel Universe" album (OK, as far as I can tell, Nu Era/Pavel whatsisface _is_ basically 4Hero - what the hell is up with these people and names! I've lost count of IG Culture's aliases!)
