Groovesters,
I just checked out St. Germaine -Tourist- on Blue Note and I have to say a
real loud Hell Yeah!!!! for tracks 2,6,8 & 9. Just what the doctor ordered.
It is really refreshing to hear really great guitar in music especially in
this genre. Track 2 "Montego Bay Spleen" is all due to
Ska/Reggae/Skankin'/Jazz veteran Ernest Ranglin. The song only lasted for
5'41" and I could it could have gone on for an hour in my little world.
Track 6, "Sure Thing" featuring John Lee Hooker and to me it sounded like of
his cuts from the amazing soundtrack featuring Miles Davis called The Hot
Spot. Fusing John Lee Hooker's master of blues guitar with the modern
rhythms is absoltely intoxicating, another example of a 6'22" song that
could have gone on for an hour. Tracks 8 "La Goutte D'or" 6'17" and track 9
"What you think about....." rounded off my essentials from this CD. "La
Goutte D'or" definitely had an excellent feel and vibe. Now if I could only
get the CD singles of this four tracks in extended style. I'd like to say a
big Hell Yeah!!! to St. Germaine for featuring artist such as Ernest Ranglin
and John Lee Hooker in their music. So for all those CD single junkies out
there where do I find these aforementioned tracks on CD5? Happy trails!!!
Semper Motociclismo,

p.s.: I am raising my hand to say I too am waiting for November 14 for the
new Sade release.
