A lot of Peshay's more recent stuff is in the style of 'Switch' and 'Retro'
and 'Miles from Home' on the 'Miles from Home' LP.
I think his best tune is almost certainly a remix of 'Heaven' by Carlito on
Creative Source (see Simon Arenhold's discography). Also his remix of 'Made
in Italy' by Maffia is excellent (see Simon Arenhold's discography).
Another good tune that was not mentioned on Simon Arenhold's discography is
'Disco', a track featured on the 'Liquid Funk' compilation LP on Creative
Source.
Personally, I have found a lot of his more recent stuff disappointing. There
are many tracks on Pivotal and on the 'Special Forces E.P' that are like
'Retro'. They feature an introduction that builds up but then disappears
completely and gives way to a bassline and a break that have nothing to do
with the original introduction, almost like two different tunes spliced
together. What was heard in the introduction never recurrs later in the tune
and the whole record consists of just a very simple break and a bass line.
If the bassline is good that's fine, otherwise the tune ends up being
boring.
That's just my opinion though, and I only find some of his recent stuff
disappointing because I have been so impressed in the past. :)
By the way, does anyone know about an LP coming out on Creative Source by
someone called 'Calibre'? He released a tune last year on 'Green Label' (I
think?) and also released a single on Creative Source. If anyone has any
info on a forthcoming LP or other releases by him, it would be most
appreciated.
Thanks
Carl
