hey Pace (and all interested in snazzy, trippy space-jazz/ambience),

Glad to hear you finally got your hands on LOGM's stuff (their first album is
really good too). Being the er, proud Canadian I am (down with the FTAA and the
upcoming summit in Quebec City!), I thought I should tell you about a few other
    related things to check:

    - the Interchill label: www.interchill.com Check in particular for Ekko's
full-length and also the amazing double CD 'Ekkocentric,' a collection of Ekko
remixes by artists such as LOGM, Neotropic, Zion Train, Neil Sparkes, Ekko's
own Adam Shaikh and a ton of others. Interchill has also released a number of
fantastic compilations, the newest being 'Infinessence,' which does feature
LOGM alongside many other excellent, trippy ambient artists. The lablel's
'Magnetic Blue' comp. from a few years back is still one of my all-time faves.
I think the web site has extensive info and sound clips.

    - Watershell: another Toronto producer with a sensibility similar to the LOGM
brothers, except with an even dubbier edge. Watershell has released singles on
Interchill, tracks on some of their comps, and a few other singles. Also has
hooked up with Germany's Echo Beach label for a few tracks on different comps.
Will have a full-length this year. His 'Deep Field View' single is incredible.

    - Freeworm: a Montreal producer and multi-instrumentalist who wears the 'sound
environmentalist' tag proudly. He works with musicians, vocalists, nature
sounds that he goes out & records, bits of samples and lots of cool instruments
(accordian, talking drum, dijeridu, deep bass) for a sound that ranges from
ambient to global funkiness, d&b and more. Wicked producer with a newish album
on Montreal's Hydrophonik label. Toronto folks on this list: I'm bringing
Freeworm to do a live PA at 'Glide' (Gypsy Co-op) on Wed. May 2. More details
    to come.

    - Manitoba: another Toronto-based guy, despite naming himself after a
more-Westerly Canadian province. His debut album, 'Start Breaking My Heart,'
came out a couple of weeks back on the UK's Leaf Label. It's been one of my
all-time fave albums since I got my ears on the CD-R about six months ago.
Dan's stuff is melodic, experimental, edgy, emotional, quirky, accessible,
weird and totally unique...getting raves in all kinds of Brit DJ mags (those
with 'leftfield' review sections) and had a little writeup in a recent Straight
No Chaser. Recommended for those into Kit Clayton, Amon Tobin, and even the
West London broken beat stylings. I looooove this guy's work! Actually, he's
gonna be DJ'ing with us at 'Glide' on Wed. May 9 as well.

    - not Canadian but wicked: anyone else really feeling the Pilote album
'Doitnowman' on Certificate 18? Funny, smart, intricate, weird and wonderful.
The Bonobo remix of Pilote's 'Turtle' track (out as a 10" and packaged with X
number of the vinyl full-lengths) is unbelievably gorgeous. Ninja fans should
    hunt for this!

'nuff rambling for now...back to work! Hope this interests some of ya'll. xo
