Jimbo is a Spurs fan! What a guy!
With Residents
DOM SERVINI (Wah Wah 45's) & JAKE HOLLOWAY (Central
Records) Plus up in the love lounge
PABLO FANQUE, DAVE YOUNG and THE EMPEROR MING
Following on from Messers Asher and Haines in March, the
Mouseorgan crew return with special guest dj Jimbo AKA Raw
Deal. This man needs no introduction, and has been on the
scene for some time knocking out quality remixes from Roy
Hargrove to the recent Freeform Arkestra tune, to critical
acclaim. Now signed to Gilles Peterson's Talkin' Loud imprint,
and with a couple of quality 12's under his belt, we are assured
that another EP and an album are to hit the shops this summer!!
Known on the dj circuit for his ability to mix up deep funk to deep
house, Jimbo is sure to be a worthy addition to the family of
Mouseorgan guests that ranges from Jazzanova to Faze Action,
from Victor Davies to Gilles P! For more evidence of the man's
skills, check out his Groove Sanctuary sunday sessions at Ma d a m EMAIL souljazze
Jo Jo's. Miss at your peril!

#### #### This weeks chart #### ####
1. V/A - Out Patients Vol 2 (Hospital) CD-R
Not often we get to chart compilations at number 1, but this fully
deserving that mantle as Hospital records come with the goods
in their next instalment of Out Patients. All exclusive and featuring
the cream of todays top production teams. Jazztronik, Swell
Session, Les Gammas, Landslide etc. Even the 'Future
Homosapiens' (remember them) make a long over due visit
to our ears! 11 tracks and all pushing the right buttons!
2. The Underwolves - Under your Sky (Compost/JCR) 2xLP
This time Compost won't let the boys down like the other lot
did! What did happen to Island Blue? It may be over two years
old but the fact that its release is immanent is a testimony to the
fact that good things happen to those who wait. We have to
thank Compost too for getting on the case of this long lost
beauty. A truly exceptional album that to many needs no
introduction. Timeless.
3. Modaji - S/T (Laws of Motion) 2xLP
21st century soul boy Dominic Jacobson finally delivers
his first long player! He's come along way since the days
of 'Starburst over Orion'. He's also matured into one of the
finest producers and songwriters around. Respect DHJ.
4. Block 16 - Find an Oasis (Nuphonic) CD-R
Suckaz for the strings, hold on to your arm chairs!
This gonna Bunson burn ya! Jhelisa returns with
the voice over but the orchestration and the bossa
groove killing us ever so slowly. Fug quiet things
down with a solid remix too.
5. V/A - Compost 100 (Compost) 4xLP
4 plates of bonkeroney Bavarian beats! I'm in heaven!
To celebrate the 100th release of this outstanding label
Compost come through with a compilation of all our fav
acts past and present. Some amazing music on this
album and I personally can't wait for the next one hundred
releases from Haager Street. Hats off and respect to all
the crews.
6. Nathan Haines - Sound Travels (Chilli Funk) 2xLP
Again, so pleased to have all tracks on vinyl. Nathan's
album already destined for classic status. Time will travel
but this long player will live long in our spirits and record
boxes for sure. The first of many great albums we hope!
Look out for the live thing too.
7. Aardvarck - Ludiek EP (Delsin) 12"
Broken Beats outta Holland? Believe! Yes
we take windmills, tulips and broken beats
wherever they are from, and this five track EP
certainly pulling nuff punches! Sounding like
a 2000 Black release. High praise indeed.
8. Vikter Duplaix - Manhood/City Spirits remixes (GAP) 12"
Five tracker that covers Vikter's excellent GAP
debut last year. 'Rima' steal the show with the
'Manhood' remix though both King Britt and Vikter
add exciting new formats to the classic.
9. Nitan Sawhney - Sunset (London Elektricity mix)(V2) CD-R
Lecky roll out another top quality remix. We be feelin' the
DnB thing at ther mo and this the cream of the crop.
A propper roller!
10. Figarro - Run Around (Clairaudience) 12"
Peven Everett gracing our turntables yet again. This
time under the Figarro guise. Once again beautiful
instrumentation, keys, pianos, vibes, drums, percussion,
this track has it all. House music at it's very best.
11. Hirsohi Fujiwara & Shinichi Osawa - Lost Child (Instr)(Sony Japan) 12"
Modern day arrangements tend to be overlooked
in need of finding more welly for the dance floor! Well
this here arrangement, production and song presses
the right buttons every time As per usual we bypass
the vocal and get straight to the instrumental from the
guys who work the 'Mondo Grosso' & 'Bird' sound.
12. India.Arie - Acoustic Soul (Motown) CD & 12"s
Kedar Massenburg and Co deliver another quality soulful
superstar. India's vocals and songwriting taking it to the
next level. Put the CD on repeat play!
13. V/A - The Brazil EP (V Recordings) 2x12"
Yippeeeee! Patife, Marky, Max De Castro and Fernada
finally find there way on vinyl into my box! Its been a long
time getting there! Even the CD-R was wearing out! This
the type of Drum n Bass that's got to bring the sun out!
14. Enola 5 - Moonlighting (Cooker) CD-R
Oh my god! Who is this crew! Three tracks
wearing out the soles of my shoes! 'Moonlighting'
drops the biggest bomb though. Turn right at the
lights and head up Kruder and Truby street.
15. Chris Bowden - Beautiful Nasty (4 Hero remix)(Ninja Tune) 12"
This mans axe takes you to places unknown and unseen.
Reminding me of Ornettes sound and sense. 4 Hero do
the remix proud too. We know how they work their
magic with Chris. It's a tough choice between the
original and the remix, both touching the spinal column,
both electrifying the nervous system.
16. Robert Nacken - Majomin (Spectrum Works) CD-R
This is where music begins and ends for me! Songs,
melodies, spirituality and so much more. Epic acoustic
music from the label that isn't afraid to differ. This the
guy too that wrote Karma's 'High Priestess'.
17. Hanna feat Gere - Laughing (Apollo) 12"
So pleased to have this on any format, Big thanks to
David for putting this my way. One of those beautiful
melodic drum n bass tunes that gives me da bumps.
Hanna being the vocalist. Singing sweet and
changing directions in this moody but mellow roller.
Forge been teasing me with this for weeks, now I
got my own.
18. V/A - Transatlantic Audio Vol 2 (Dynamite Joint) CD-R
Dynamite Joint coming through yet again with
another superb comp, this time all exclusive tracks
compiled by those Atlantic boys Karl Injex and
Tyler Askew. Viper Squad, Big Bang, Hajime
Yoshizawa, Alex from Toyko just a few adding
to the ride.
19. Swell Session - I see through you (Hollow) CD-R
We think the follow up to the amazing and still
played out first twelve from Sweden's Hollow
recordings. Top teenager Ms Yukimi Nagano
adding those composed vocals once again.
A worthy follow up.
20. Le Mans - Mi Nouela Autobiografica (Kabuki remix)(Spectrum Works) CD-R
Well, after the comfy chair bizniz, time now to get
your dancing socks back on. It may be taken from
the excellent 'Folky' acoustic compilation on Spectrum
Works but Kabuki show no respect in lighting the fuse
with this cross breed fusion killa. A bomb!
21. V/A - Family (Versatile) 3xLP
Slick comp from Gilb-r and Co to mark the 5th
anniversary of the label. Restless Soul, Osulande,
Rima, Pariss Clemons all donating excellent tunes
to commemorate the mark. All tunes exclusive too.
22. The Lithium Project - Fundo Passo (Hydrogen Dukebox) CD-R
Walking the streets of Detroit in the year 2134 with this one.
Futuristic yet soulful groove taken from a diverse and neat
forthcomer. MK Ultra giving me a top tip off.
23. Shur-i-ken - Advance (Freerange) 2xLP & 2x12"
Wow! What a debut album for Mr Odell's Freerange label.
Look out to for Landslide and Swell Session remixes
forthcoming too. Shur-i-ken aka Tim Szirtes coming
through with mo twists and turns than a super market
trolley with a wonky wheel.
24. V/A - Drum Major Instinct (X:treme) 2xLP
King of the Comps? Maybe, but X:treme get it done
again this time with Attica Blues adding their musical
wisdom and integrity to two very diverse and enjoyable
slabs of vinyl. Tony and Charlie offering glimpses into
the tuition that makes them such forwarding thinking
producers and remixers.
25. Stratospheric - Neon Carlita (UFO remix)(Internal Bass) 12"
Maybe the best thing UFO have remixed in a while?
They leave out their trademark campness and get
down to the serious task of the groove. Bass licks
and key stabs reminding of some good ol fashioned
German bizniz.
26. V/T - Folky (Spectrum Works) CD-R
Acoustic music in digital times! Awesome collection
of new bizniz from suspects such as Scuba, Zero 7,
Les Gammas, Victor Davis. We also digging such
artists as Otto Lamani and Lief too. Pull up a comfy
chair and leave your dancing shoes in the corner!
27. Afronaught - Transcend Me (Apollo) 12"
Soon come! Soon come! Hold on boys and girls.
Whites about so the finished article only days
away! Get ready also for the O-Dawg album to
compliment this excellent twelve.
28. Fini Dolo - Heartbeat (Part 3)(People) 12"
Noel Watson lays down another fine rhythm this time for
the Kensal Road crew. Sonja Sohn gives the vocal,
remember her from the fabulous 'Blow' track a couple
of years back. We dig Pt 3 which takes on a more
broken beat effect.
29. Difusion - Illusive Angel (Solaria) 12"
Venom and Uncle get it done with this deep and vibrating
sound off! Somewhere between Drum n Bass and West
London broken beats! A bunch of Viper/Venom stuff
sounding off very soon! Vinyl sounding super phaaaat!
30. KJM feat Bebel Gilberto - The view from her room (?) CD-R
Kyoto Jazz Massive team up with last years
hottest property Bebel Gilberto for a classic
Working Week track. Usual Japanese silky
production, usual sambatastic workout.
#### #### Coffee compliment #### ####
In a melancholic mood!
Maybe my reason for digging one deep album!
Gil Scott-Heron - 'Pieces of a Man'
Flying Dutchman FD 10143 (1971)
This maybe the best of all GSH albums. I'm sure the
crew reading this know the score here. Always dug
out for the obvious tracks in 'The revolution will not
be televised' and 'Home is where the hatred is'. But
this album has always gripped me with the title track
'Pieces of a man' and 'A sign of the ages'.
It's a sign of the ages
Markings on my mind
Man at the cross roads
At odds with an angry sky
There can be no salvation
There can be no rest
Until all old customs
Are put to the test
The gods are all angry
You'll hear from the breeze
As night slams like a hammer
And you drop to your knees
The questions can't be answered
You're always haunted by the past
The world's full of children
Who grew up too fast
