All-
In my rush to get my earlier post out the door, I obviously left a lot out.
We should pull a little web resource of our own together... Gotta make sure
I show love for my states-side peeps who are not just biting the sound but
actually collaborating with and innovating alongside of, their fellow
originators. Check out P'Taah's (Chris Brann's) "De-compressed Light"
(despite it's previously-discussed "laziness" on the new material front ;)
and other releases SF's Ubiquity has been pushing out. Swingsett and J.
Warrin's ISM records is pushing the sound as well with the "Doesn't Make it
Right" 12" and the "Sights Unseen" full-length. Conveniently, J. Warrin's
from SF and has had some classic releases out on Ubiquity. Don't you love
how this scene comes together?
I echo Aaron here and say that this sound may have started in London but has
really gone worldwide.

Sounds like the West London 'ting my man.
Dego has been spearheading this movement for the last couple of
years. It doesn't really have an appropriate name yet, some people
say West London, Broken Beat, NuJazz, whatever. I just see it as
being about liberating dance music, letting it mature, bringing in
massively diverse influences. Nuff talented musicians and producers
getting involved, not a bit of stagnancy. It's not solely going on in
London either, cats in Japan, Germany, France, etc are stepping up to
the plate, the movement is global and the mind state is pervasive.
The resources aren't too hot on the net right now in terms of
straight up information, but there's music to be heard. Check out
volcov's guest spot on http://www.interactivedj.co.uk (in the
radioActive archive section).
Also check the New Jazz Warriors forum for discussion of upcoming tracks:

some very in the know cats roam there.
