I did mention that label a week or so ago (in the Get Me Started thread) and
I do like it though I didn't think the Sequel 12" they had is as good as the
one released on Staight Ahead (Upsolid). The fruit business is a little
annoying in that it's sometimes hard to tell which record is which at a
quick glance--damn that kiwi looks like the lime :) Why not cherries and
apples? those would be easy to spot.

Subject: Zest!
this weekend my buddies and i reached fever pitch in our giddy excitement
over the new label Zest, run by Hidden Agenda and releasing some of the best
breakbeat tracks i've heard in ages that sit firmly inbetween 2-step and
broken beats. there've been four releases that i know of (each with a
different fruit on the label), each rolling out ultra-syncopated beats,
large basslines and off-kilter atmospheres and samples. very heady and very
funky. our conversations about these records have sounded much like
secretive drug-deal talk..."yo...i got the lemon and the lime, you got
anything else?" "yeah, man, i got the KIWI" "you got the kiwi?! shit! i need
the kiwi!" and so on. :) anyone else been feeling this business?
