I'm not too sure if I'm going to pick up the album. I have it on the good
old computer though. The album is not too bad at all. It is a bit
mainstream, but it's different (concise, eh...). I guess the only reason I
say it's mainstream is probably cause of the success she's hit with it.
More power to this Canadian/Portuguese girl (on a side note, my friends
sister is getting married to Nelly's uncle... I missed the opportunity to
meet her last time she was in Toronto). There is a real latin tone to many
of the tracks, but it's again... uh... for lack of a better word...
different. The track Legend does have a nice samba feel to it (from what I
think samba sounds like). Of course, Well Well is one of the top tracks on
the album (though that may be a little biased since Esthero is in it). As a
last note, she does have quite a range of singing styles, as she apparently
even tries to do some traditional portuguese style singing. At times her
voice can verge on getting annoying, but it only verges... never does.
I think I just convinced myself to go a buy the album. But if you can
sample it 1st, go for it.
Respect...
Hemash

Subject: Nelly Furtado
Hi,
Now that somebody has mentioned Nelly Furtado, can anyone tell me if this is
worth picking up? Time and again I've been seeing "I'm Like a Bird" both in
MTV-Philippines and MCM, and I've read somewhere that she has
Canadian/Brazilian (or Portuguese?) blood. If that's the case, then I guess
there's a bit of samba/bossa nova in the album?
Thanks!
/Mike
