Do the "Aimee Mann': refuse to adjust music for radio, ditch major label
contract, spend a unfortunately heavy sum buying back record and license. Go
through a little more hell, start own label, release an album, and piss of the
execs at Epic when 'Bachelor #2~the last remains of the dodo" debuts with
universal acclaim and fairly great sales considering the lack of a huge campaign
or radio friendly song. Now, who's the Dodo?
-- regards, wesleyMichiru may have come up with the acid jazz generation that launched the Brand New Heavies, but musically she's left them all behind. Here is a woman who's vocal and songwriting chops are so far above her peers she can't get a record deal in the US. There isn't a singer on either side of the globe that has this much class or natural ability that uses it this beautifully. Brilliant and moving. - Thom Jurek on Monday Michiru [2001]
