Howdy Y'all,
Had a great time at AREA:ONE last week...highlights had to be
<<Rinocerose>>, Outkast and The Orb....New Order appeared very
energetic and apparently so happy to be back in the swing of
things, that they announced they were "here to stay"......of course,
Moby did his usual excellent set, complete with a string ensemble and
tres cool light show......I interviewed Jean Phillipe and Patou from
<<Rinocerose>> (thanks to Jennifer @ V2) and hope to have our long
conversation edited down for next week's show. A big thanks again to
Tomas for sitting in. There are no audio archives from the program,
but you can find his playlist below.
Being away for a week means there's lots of new stuff in the box,
such as 12"s galore from Compost: new singles and new mixes from the
Underwolves, Amalgamation Of Soundz, Intuit, Minus 8 and Kyoto Jazz
Massive.....other singles include "Sincerely Yours" from Uko and the
"Fjord" EP from Athome Project......
On the album front, we have an advance copy of "Goodbye Country -
Hello Nightclub" from Groove Armada, a terrific compilation from the
Narcotix Lounge label, the full-length, sophomore effort from Mr.
Hermano, Mescalito's "We Disappeared In Style," Los Angeles musician
e:trinity's diverse mix-up entitled "Various Shades Of Blue," and
additional compilations from More Rockers (Smith & Mighty), Volume 5
of LTJ Bukem's Earth series and Quango's excellent new "Space Jazz."
Thanks to all of you who donated swag for our upcoming station
fund-raiser....we still have a few weeks before we swing into high
gear, so I'll be calling on some of you personally to ask for your
support (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)....the good news is we've managed
to get the Webcast working again, so if you'd like to hear the show
live tonight, you can now do so....for those of you living in the Bay
Area, we'll be giving away tickets to see Titonton Duvante and Jon
Tejada this Thursday at Joypad as well as a couple pair for Peaches
at the Great American Music Hall on Friday.
Th-th-th-that's all folks - ciao for now!
David
