    Peace to the list!!,
Ok I have to speak upon Mr. King's latest offering to the world of
hip-hop. Only if you are in London or happen to score the promotional album
you will unfortunately have to wait until September 18. Roots Manuva has
come to lay it down, and yes it is hip-hop. But not just cliché hip-pop but
the sure fire shit to make you break out the headphones and memorize lyrics.
The patois slang maybe is the way man was meant to emcee (cause he does
e-m-c-e-e) Roots has flow for days. And for those who don't know flow is
the reason that so many people are into that Marshall mathers dude. You
know how it is when you like somebody but you really don't know why, Eminem
sounds good over the beats. But to quote James Brown he's, "Talkin' Loud
and sayin' nothin' ". Roots Manuva has lyrics to go like old Tribe Called
Quest. The first single "Witness (1 Hope)" which also has a video on
http://www.ninjatune.net/ could end up being an MTV Buzz clip. In a way
that would suck because well...MTV sucks. But it would be good to see some
real hip-hop on TV and not (c)rap. The music on the album is thick bass
lines surrounded by sonic confetti dancing from one ear to the next. He
masterfully moves in between a ill-type dancehall ragga beat, to some dark
guitar evil sounding crufness sure to make the most wicked man feel that
much stronger. If you are looking for brute experimentation into hip-hop
this is your own personal baseball bat. You can have fun hitting yourself
repeatedly on the head from track to track. Plus in this day and age to
listen to a hip-hop album and not hear how much of a thug one is, personally
is a relief. Maybe it's the whole preachers kid thing...:)...yea if this
was one of those "in my CD player now" threads yall could keep this one
permanently. I'ma say this is a hip-hop classic (like his last one) and hip
hop is like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz...way the fuck out of Kansas...And
I hope she never clicks her heels.
    peace
