    Essential 's BIO/ Production INFO:

DJ Essential started going to rave parties and underground house socials
in '91/ '92, and fell in love with early House (Strictly Rhythm, Trax,
Lil' Louis, DJ Pierre, Lidell Townsell, MAW, Blaze, MK), and Hardcore
Breakbeat acts like Shut Up & Dance, Ragga Twins, 2 Bad Mice, Sons of
Loop da Loop Era, Run Tings, Kicks like A Mule, and Acen. He was
inspired by local DJ's/ Friends like Eddie Amador, Len Sobeck, Emile,
and others like Gilles Peterson, Patrick Forge, Ashley Beadle, Marques
Wyatt, Mark Farina, King Britt, and Julius Papp. He then started dj-ing
around Phoenix spinning house and acid jazz in '93. Then a few years
later he was experimenting with Rare Groove, Afro/ latin grooves,
downtempo beats, and Jungle. He started up the Hip Joint in '95 with DJ
Pari (Germany), where they brought true sounds of funky music to the
South West. By '96-'97 he was seriously making a name around the West
Coast for himself spinning a mix of Rare Groove, Downtempo, and Jungle/
    D & B.

At about the same time, he was doing many gigs playing a strange mix
Deep House, Tech House, Jazzy & Ecclectic Nu- House, UK Garage, and
funky French House. By the time '98 rolled round he was spreading the
underground sound everywhere in Phoenix (at Red Monkey events, The
Works, Pompeii, Voodoo Bar, The Cage). So, he continued on with his love
for soulful music. Always loving and Djing House Music, He ventured out
into like MAW, Ibadan, Roy Davis Jr., Romanthony, Blaze, Kevin Yost,
Phil Asher's Restless Soul, Ashley Beadle, Charles Webster (Presence/
Furry Freaks), labels like Paper, Glasgow Undergound, 20:20, Shaboom,
Classic, Phono, Estereo, Nuphonc, Afro Art, and French House (ie. Daft
Punk, I: Cube, DJ Deep, Cassius, Bob Sinclar, and Versatile). His love
for UK Garage/ 2-Step was getting stronger by 1998-99, when he started
spinning more (ie. MJ Cole, Ramsey & Fen, Groove Chronicles, Dreem Team,
and Sunship). Check out www.bump2k.com where he and DJ Sonic run the
    site.

He then started doing a deep house and soulful garage night called
Deepness with good friend Saint. That friendship, became a working
musical partnership that still exists today. They started producing
funky house ansd soulful garage, in Saint's small, but accomidating
studio. Then in February of 2000, Urbanite was formed by Saint to
release their jazzfunk latin & soulful House grooves. Later, Tim
Hatfield joined ranks, and delivered us the big hit "Must Be Luv". Soon,
we will see the rise of the new label BUMP 2K ( an offshoot label of
Urbanite Records, where Essential has produced as Universoul). Essential
& Saint (Rump Shakerz) has produced 2 new tracks, "Lovey" a proper BIG
vocal 2- Step track feat. Spook Lu & MC Shon Reed, and the old skool
garage vibe of "I feel it", feat. La Keisha Carter. Saint released
Sambas on Osunlade's (the man of the Moment in Nu-Jazzy House music)
Yoruba label in March 2001. Sambas "Que vive el canto' makes it on my
    latest "Universoul Expressions" CD/ Tape.
