My, how the weeks fly by!
Summer time continues, with the slightly cooler temperatures reminding
us all to getouttatown asap if we haven't done so. I'll be heeding that
urge and splitting T.O. for a glorious nine days (!) in the countryside
as of tomorrow, but before doing so would love to tell you about what's
currently on the go in my l'il part of the world. Sorry for not sending
as heavily detailed e-newsletters as usual (a break for some of you, a
loss for others :-), but the facts, music Picks, links to reviews and
articles, and all that bizness will resume as of the next e-letter, I
promise.
In the meantime, here's the scoop on Mental Chatter as well as on gigs
currently on the go. Look for word of tonight's Garage 416 event at Roxy
Blu (featuring NYC's Timmy Regisford of Shelter fame) and related ticket
giveaways.
As always, big huge thank-you's to all of you who support what I and
other likeminded music lovers in this city are up to. Giant grins to
those who woke the dancefloors at both Tonic's FTWK and at last
weekend's Mark Grant gig at the Warehouse/Kool Haus. I had a great time
at both thanks to the hands in the air and the great conversations I had
with people post sets. Hope to see you out on the floors again soon.
Here goes....

- FRIDAY AUGUST 31, I'll be guesting alongside T.O. house legends Dino +
Terry at their Friday night residency at Aria. Newly revamped and
relaunching under the name of Glow, this weekly deep, sweet affair will
focus on Toronto talent with loads of different, local innovators
joining brothers D&T each week. Aria is at 457 Richmond Street W.
- FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 7, I'm honoured to have been invited to join Groove
Institute in their Solid Garage monthly. This time 'round, the guys have
invited in not only beautiful, Bronx-based music producer Antonio Ocasio
(Tribal Winds Records), but also Manuel-Josell Ramos, director of
Maestro. Maestro is a new, feature film documentary focussing on
underground dance music legends, taking us in to the worlds of the Loft,
Paradise Garage, Larry Levan, David Mancuso, Frankie Knuckles, François
K and many others. Manuel-Josell will share not only info about his
film, but also a special promo clip. Antonio, btw, is the music composer
for Maestro so expect his crates to be jammed with some extra special
gems for this one! Roxy Blu, 12 Brant St.
As always...if you would prefer not to be on this mailing list, just
lemme know and off your name shall go! Thanks!
