    --------------------

    August 29th

The Dub Club with Adrian Sherwood at Spaceland.
Legendary East London producer Adrian Sherwood drops into the weekly Dub Club tonight for a lengthy mix session to accompany the long-overdue rerelease of 31 Sherwood/On U Sound–produced albums on CD this past July.

It really doesn’t get much better than this: Sherwood is one of those guys with immaculate taste and international connections, a learned vet who’s been mixing and producing dub/reggae records with Jamaican vocalists (Prince Far-I, Bim Sherman) and players (saxophonist Headley Bennett) since 1978. As well as his remix work with everyone from Cabaret Voltaire and Einstürzende Neubauten to Nine Inch Nails and Primal Scream. Sherwood has, over the last 20 years, also organized a stunningly innovative series of studio albums under various aliases (New Age Steppers, Tackhead, Dub Syndicate, etc.), featuring players like Jah Wobble, Keith Levine and ex-members of the Sugar Hill Gang in a dub/funk/post-punk/industrial mind meld. And then there’s Sherwood’s work with the African Headcharge . . . Ah, we could go on and on.

This is a rare appearance by a mega-influential sound elder: Checking him out will be a matter of both paying respect and doing your ears a good deed.
