Strictly speaking the artists you mention are not acid jazz artists either,
and I'm not sure why you consider that to be "real music"... maybe because
they are out on major domestic labels with heavy distribution and commercial
FM radio air play? I can understand how that would make them seem more
legitimate to your average American consumer.
