I bought Songs/Hey Love a couple of years ago and have listened to it many
times. I too was after the original Black Gold Of The Sun and wasn't
disappointed. Songs is full of cover versions with their renditions of
Sunshine of Your Love, Burning of the Midnight Lamp and Respect among
others, all rendered with Charles Stepney's superb string orchestration and
sounding very different to the originals.

Hey Love is entirely made up of originals including BGOTS and Hanging round
the Bee Tree which is a personal fave. Great instrumentation combined with
superb vocals including a fair few spine-tingling high notes from Minnie
    Riperton.

Full tracklisting on BGP's site together with a nice review from Dean
    Rudland.

    Hi list,

i really enjoy the original version of black gold of the sun by rotary
connection, and i decided i have to purchase a compilation of their
    music.....
so far i found these 3 albums:

1997 Minnie Ripperton/Her Chess Years Chess
    1998 Songs/Hey Love BGP
    1999 Aladdin/Dinner Music Raven

if you had to pick one, which one would you choose?

    thanx, Olaf
