    Jim,

I'm dont call myself a bboy, and have never taken a class, but i did
associate with a lot of breakdancers/b-boys when i was growing up (11 to 14
years old). I don't know that dancing/grooving is something you can be
taught. I've always thought it was about intuition. About expressing your
thoughts and emotions through movements. However you feel, just do a
movement that will express that. Dancing to me is like playing... like a
kid playing in a jungle gym. It's totally freestyle, there are no rules, you
just do what ever makes you feel good. A lot of times i do a dance that i
know damn well looks stupid... but who cares if it feels good! When I'm
stressed, the object of dancing is to relieve that stress through movements
(shaking, jumping, yelling, wiggling). When your at a party and you see
boys and girls doing these dope ass moves and your like "damn, i wish i
could do that"... often, they're just freestyling. Nobody taught them...
they're just acting on the moment. It's really about moving how you feel.
These are just my two cents and no doubt others will know more than me on
the subject. You may be able to find some videos on dancing at your local
record shop, or at upstairsrecords.com (I've seen a few in the catalog).
But I wouldn't expect an instructor to be leading you through steps. Just
go out on the dancefloor and exorcise the demons!!!

    Peace,
    Beau.
