i had the pleasure to check out gilles peterson's show
in LA at sugar (bossa nova) last night and OH MAN! he
did it again. it was a show in true worldwide form--a
pure mix-up selection. he played for 2 1/2 hours, and
we got to hear everything from mos def, to airto, to
swell sessions, to bohannon, to en vogue (!), to
vikter duplaix, to dj patiffe, and on and on. it was
off the hook. it's been a long time since i've
boogied that hard. the whole night had a really nice
vibe as well. i was skeptical that the club would be
too packed but people made plenty of room for dancing.
it was almost reminiscent of bar rumba monday
nights--almost, not quite of course (nothing
compares). just good tunes with good people.
a night in LA not to forget any time soon.
    anyone else catch this show?
    -megan
