Hello there. I'm still recovering from friday's St. Germain and Erik Truffaz
4Tet in London this last friday. Outstanding concert. To start off the
night, Erik Truffaz 4tet played an amazing set. The drummer is the best one
I've seen in my life (haven't seen many though, but I was extremely
impressed). The guy was playing drum'n'bass type beats at points as
precisely as a swiss clock (I know, it's cheap). Then, St. Germain. They
were booed when they appeared on stage, and several missiles were thrown at
them (apparently you are not supposed to make London audiences wait, they
get impatient). It actually took them 3 tracks to get people on their feet
(the drums/percussion solo in So flute got everyone going). It all ended up
with people jumping on stage and shit. Excellent night. Next day, I went to
buy some records around london. I got Gotan Project's Triptico (Ya basta!
records) which is a blend of house- not house and Tango. Very good shit.
Also, the Laws of motion compilation with a few excellent tracks, very
difficult to categorize, which I like a lot; and, obviously, the Rouse Rouge
12", just to remind me of the whole experience. In all a wicked week-end.
Now, it's time to start thinking about Mr. Scruff who is coming to
Colchester in a couple of weeks, so I'll let you know how that went. Cyaz!
