Gotta agree with Nat here - this 10" is unbelievable! It's definitely one of
the strongest 'nu-jazz' releases I've heard in ages. Thick 'n heavy on the
JAZZ elements. Beautifully abstract with punch and experimentation on the
"Thyrrenean Sea" side and Nat nailed the descriptives for Raw Deal's mix of
"Freeform Theme." Wow. "Thyrrenean Sea" reminds me a lot of some of the
Musique Actuelle releases coming out of Montréal in the late '80s through
mid '90s, particularly Wondeurbrass/Justine.
This is the third single I've found and picked up on the Straight Ahead
label (which is anything but) over the past year or so. All are strong,
