    John,

Let me make it clear that I love Ortofon styluses. They're the best around
for fidelity and sound reproduction, at least in a club setting with dance
vinyl. That being said, I STRONGLY recommend using the Ortofon OM series
which mount to the Technics headshells. The more popular Ortofon
banana-type has had a history of vague connections with the Technics
tonearm and Ortofon hasn't seen the need to update their design (adding 1mm
of metal to the ends of their connectors would do it.)

Unknowing DJs who lose channels while DJing are told by their friends to
"lick" the contacts of the Ortofons (banana-type) but as soon as the saliva
dries, you've got a layer of saliva blocking the metal-to-metal contact
    (obviously not a good thing.) It's a short-term (i.e. a few minutes until
the saliva dries and then becomes less of a conductor and more of a
hindrance) fix that so many DJs still mess around with. Consider it an
"old wives tale" if there is such a thing in the dance DJ world :)

If you talk to DJs who are conscientious about their equipment and their
sound, you'll find that they're using OM Ortofons on Technics
    headshells. That's my strong recommendation.

    Gen
