/. Mixmaster Morris presents Abstract Funk Theory
I recommend this wholeheartedly to one and all, it is not a mix comp, just a really good comp with some absolute stunners on it that have gone right into some of my sets! Yes, there are a few weakish tracks and a couple I already knew or had, but I love this disc all in all. Does anyone know the other discs in the series? If they are anything near as good as this one then they are probably worth having!
/. Zimpala - Almaviva, I have been listening to this disc since I bought it in Paris last year! It covers the gamut of styles and does it well!
/. Tribal Futures The Way Ahead - Comp on Echo Beach with mixes by people like The Orb, Leftfield, Banco de Gaia.
/. The Groove Dis comp that I got when I ordered my last lot is a killa collection with very few clunkers in fact, I like all the tarcks although I like some a lot more than others. The Rennie Pilgrim track is one of those late-blooming stunners that finds you feetfirst in a very twitchy and funky groove! Good on Groove Dis for this!
/. Stryke presents Staying In - This mix, intended for those who want to just stay home with similarly inclined friends and drift to the sounds, is good for it's stated purpose and I tested its efficacy personally and in real time so I can say it worked for me.for those folks who want ambient-oriented sounds that bridge more than just a couple of genres, this disc has its twists as it runs from a languid dubbification of Bill Withers through Salt Tank, Ian Pooley, Jamie Myerson, John Beltran, Sven van Hees and others.
/. le groove eclectique - mix by Mark Gorbulew - this mix is subtitled as a chilled out voyage thru global dance music but, strictly speaking, only a few of the numbers are chilled, most adhere to the school of eventually becoming house music tunes. Having said that there are some solid pieces on the disc.
