Philip and Tempo of the Down,
>I am listening to St. Germain Tourist right now and I have to say there
are
>only a couple of songs that I say are a must:
>Track 6. "Sure Thing" with John Lee Hooker Moanin, Groanin and playing
>Guitar. The is one of the best things I have ever heard from Brother
>John Lee.
I've been saying for ages, this track alone deserves to be released as a
single w/ full remix treatment... Can you imagine what IG Culture, Phil
Asher, Jazzanova, Swag, peeps like that could do with this thing? Fucking
hell, someone at the label should jump on that...
If "Sure Thing" is ROCKIN' your world then Do Not Hesitate to checkout the
OST of "Hot Spot" featuring John Lee Hooker and Miles Davis. The movie
itself if worth checking out, Virginia Madsen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Oooo La
La!!!!!!!!!!! There is this one scene where this chemically altered Older
Man is walking towards this used car lot and he hears voices coming from a
car that is high on one of those revolving displays, his facial reactions
are a hoot!!!!!!!!! There is also this river bed scene with this other
actress worth a peek, her name slips me, my apologies. Anyway checkout the
movie and the OST.
>Track 2. Montego Bay Spleen" with Ernest Ranglin playing Guitar. I have
>to say this is absolutely flawless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Speaking of which, can anyone recommend some good Ernest Ranglin discs? I
heard him once on NPR & loved it, but have never tracked down any of his
stuff. Palm Pictures signed him recently, right?
-Phil
I love to hear Dub-esque Reggae Acid Jazz like this particular cut. If
anyone ever gets the chance to checkout Kazumi Watanabe's Mobo I tracks 4
and 5, Cosmic Dub-esque Spacey Reggae Acid Jazz from planet Downtempo
D-jour!!!!!!!!Happy trails!!!
