WHO EVER WROTE THIS, CAN YOU MAKE
    YOURSELF KNOWN!
I WANNA SEND YOU SOMETHING NICE!
''there is some spam, some posts from people you
never hear of except to advertise. oh well. If you
don't like playlists, you don't like the meatiest
(albeit bluntest) content on this list. poor baby,
here's a hanky. My favorite new playlist is
CukiPapa's. I print it out and commit it to memory.
The only thing I don't like about it is that I can't
    get everything on it!!''

Finally, I got to say a big thanks to all the girls and
boys in a very cold Helsinki (-15 degrees).
Especially 'Lil Tony' who runs one of the very best
clubs in Europe (Kerma) and who's sound system
sounds sweeter and warmer with each visit. Respect!
Shouts also to the NuSpirit of Helsinki crew, Eppu,
Ender, Kimi, Sannu. Look out for a album on Guidance
recordings in 2001 from this crew! Check for live sets
from the NuSpirit posse too. Look out for 'Lil Tony' DJ
sets across Europe, (Promoters be aware) Awesome
selection of music at Kerma from him last Thursday!
I'm sure Frankfurt (Soul Patrol/Michael Ruttens club
night) appreciated Lil Tony's set last Saturday too.
Love to my dear friends from the Leftside Ensemble.
To Jussi, Vesa, Sampsa and of course the main man
Henkka who's flat I stayed at during these last five
days! Listening to the Jazz Crusaders at 5 in the
morning and watching nature programmes! Yeah,
check channel 7 out at Hennka's place! ;) I'll pay your
TV licence next time Henkka! Yeah, roll on the Leftside!
Best DJ's, worst haircuts! That coming from me!
I've also got to say thanks to all the people who's
party's I went to! So if you guys could mail on to Satu
and Kristine not forgetting Aiona Kaisa (Did I spell
that right?). All the guys about town too, Dizzy at
Nine2Five recordings. The best record shop in
Helsinki 'Lifesaver' records. Anybody I forgot! Mmmm!
Last but not least, my dear friend Pia. I think I know
even less about you then before! But it was so good
to see you on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Love and light to you Pia.

mail box or visited the shops yet. Next week we'll be firing!

    1. Sepia - Age of Cool (Underground Evolution) CD-R
Taking from the unreleased 'City of Strangers' album.
This cuts the mustard in a similar vein to last years

out on! Sepia outta Chicago and one of the true secrets
    of the left hand lane!

    2. Afronaught - Transcend Me (Apollo) 12"
Co-op theme tune! The awesome, the incredible, the amazing,
the most exciting track outta West London for many a moon!

too. O-Bug finally delivers! The rest they say is history!
It's all over Jazzanova as Mr Weston would say!

    3. Wai Wan & Loretta Heywood - Feelin' Me Feelin' You (Earth Project) 12"
Earth Project going the same way as 'People' records!
From strenght to strenght. Excellent package in EP004
including a awesome Atjazz remix. Ms Heywood as ever,
    delivering super strong vocals.

    4. Yesterday's New Quintet - EP (Stones Throw) 12"
More Madlib mayhem! Excellent Lo-Fi hip hop from Quasi
producer. Doing my head in with the riffs and samples used!
Clocked the Tom Browne 'Herbal Scent' one but need help
    with the others.

    5. Kaidi Tatham - Betcha (Original/Son of Scientist mix)(Bitasweet) CD-R
Still sick! IG and Kaidi let loose with more mad West London
side stepping! Forget two step, this is twenty two step! Kaidi
back on home turf too. Bitasuite back to full noise and energy
levels! Sick! Sick! Sick! Pass me another bucket!

    6. Da Lata - Pra Manha (mixes)(Palm Pics) 2x12"
We get the double pack at last! IG Culture, Blaze and KV5
respect the soul and spirit which is Da Lata. Classic NY groove,
beats broken or mechanical, all mixes sound ready for the left
    hand lane of dancefloors!

    7. Ne Grove - Let it Ride (House mix)(Pure Filth) 12"
Leroy, Marcus and the crew give us a West London
classic with new house vibes! Super dance floor
friendly and with new vocals by Mr Begg. Silk
production as always with 'soul' as the source.

    8. Zero Crossing - Missed Torsion (Remixes)(Spinning Wheel) 12"
Well, I had a listen to the flip and Gorden Bennet, There's a
Domu broken beat biscuit to contend with the TAOS A side!
I need to listen to my records more closely! Respect
    Spinning Wheel!

    9. Nathan Haines - Earth is the Place (Chilli Funk) 12"

    10. Les Gammas meets Clare Fischer - Descarga Yema Ya (Mojo) 2xLP
Choice cut from the Mojo club remix album number two and
really nice to finally get it on plastic. I'll let you know about
the rest of the remix project next week! You need this track
    though.

    11. V/A - Compost Community (Compost) 3xLP

    14. Paul Murphy - Jazz Rooms (Afro Art) 12"
Murph going back to his roots! Percussive rhythms

began with tunes like this. Marc Woolford digs in
    with the production too.

    15. Bird - Mind Travel (Instrumental)(Sony) 12"
'The Weston' comes through yet again with another slice of top
notch Sushi! This time we forget the Bird vocal (very dodgy) and
get straight to the basic beat! Like a run down MAW/Incognito
groove with delicate strings and things! Respect to the man in
the green Carhartt jacket! Big in the boxes of at least two DJ's!

    16. Sylk 130 - V/T (Ovum) CD-R
King Britt's second full length instalment of soulful motion. Features

Over 2 years in the CD player but now in vinyl format! Long

Chunky eleven min remix from Mr O'B too. Lets hope we
don't have to wait another two years for the follow up!

    20. GK Deep - Roots (People) 12"
East goes West! Another solid outing for People records, this
time we get a dose of Japanese fusion from Tokyo. Who is
GK Deep! Vinyl at last too!

Venom and Uncle get it done with this deep and vibrating
sound off! Somewhere between Drum n Bass and West

classic Jazzanova tunes! Big in the box of Henrikki
    Matikainen!

We got a finshed copy of the vinyl this week. Yippee!
The puzzle is finally over! Blazing all over the turntables!

    25. London Elektricity - Round the Corner (Landslide rmx)(Hospital) CD-R
Tim Land always delivers the best two step action! This no
execption! Forthcoming remix for a great song that still gets
    regular outings in my sets!

Only the finest coffee break for my friend Henkka
this week! Java Joint dedicated to the flying Finns.
Nick Drake 'Bryter Layter' (Island 1970)
Drakes second album and to me his best (they're
all awesome I hear you say!) Containing the classic
and tragic tracks in 'Northern Sky' 'Bryter Layter' and
'City Clock'! All tracks hitting the mark! Major league
goosebumping! Folk, soul, jazz, rock! it's all there!
You need to track this down Henkka though it got
reissued over here in Blighty on 180gr vinyl last year!
