A couple of tracks I just found in two compillations which are mostly
Rock and Rnb, but include these two tracks which would interest the poeple
in this list indeed:
1. El Sup: Dignidad Rebelde. From 'Juntos Por Chiapas' Serpiente Sobre
Ruedas, 1997. This is a recording of the famous 'Dignidad Rebelde' (Rebel
Dignity) speech by subcommander Marcos, spokesperson for the EZLN
Zapatista National Liberation Army, from their fourth Lacandona Jungle
Declaration, set to an awesome melancolic, funky track by Coti Sorokin,
Javier Calamaro and Friends, from Argentina. The compilation it comes from
was released by an ONG in charge of Food and Medicine relief for the
victims of the Insurgent uprising in Southern Mexico.
2. C/Z: Con Safos. From 'Viva Raza Rock' on Rhino Records. Another spoken
word track over a funky/RnB track, less melancholic that El Sup's. This
time, the voice belongs to Ruben G. who is an old presence in the Los
Angeles' Chicano Art scene. The topic is Los Angeles. The track is from
1984, but the compilation is more recent, and focuses on Chicano Music,
from RnB to Punk.
Just what's been on my Cd player lately. . .
