I have a PIII500 but with half that RAM and never have those problems. Some
    things you might consider:

    1. Have TWO hard drives -- one for your OS and program applications, and another
HD strictly for audio files, temp files, etc. That way your HD doesn't have to
seek back and forth for instructions and writing data, also if and when your
hard drive crashes -- cvhances are it'll be your C: drive, your other drive with
your irreplaceable data will be intact...you can always reinstall your OS and
apps, but your audio files might be difficult or impossible to replace.

    2. When you do have two hard drives (two actual hard drives, not two
partitions), place the swap file of your virtual memory into the one that's not
    the C: drive -- your C:

    3. Shut off all your antivirus programs anytime you work on audio applications.
In fact, make sure there's nothing running in the background except for Explorer
    and Systray.
