Keyser & Shuriken - newsletter #45: Vinyl records are the main repository of the
    world's musical heritage

    Newsflash 25.01.2001

    Dear friends,

Not much news for now: Shuriken still has some obligations on the university, Keyser
is back to work. We are preparing some new tunes with our friends, so you can expect
more Crate Soul Brothers song in the future. The first one is in the freshest mix, so
    now you can check it.

We are glad that the O1 cultural channel of ORF, the Austrian television will do a
one-hour feature on the music-scene in Budapest and especially the almost-legendary
Radio Tilos (our independent non-profit radio channel). We are just asked to help
them introduce the scene; we will tell you more details next time.

This week's reading comes from the anonymous record dealer, and although it's quite
simple, it expresses why all we vinyl junkies just can't be fed up with old records
and change to CDs (or mp3s):

"Vinyl records are one of the world's great audio resources. They are available to
anyone at low cost and contain a wealth of recorded sound that is not otherwise
available. They can be put on CDs with any ordinary desktop computer! And they sound
better than CDs when played directly on a turntable. Vinyl records are the main
repository of the world's musical heritage. You can find them all over the place and
they're cheap! The same can be said of 78s, although they don't sound as good without
extensive audio mixing and cleaning. Let's enjoy these gems and treat them with the
    respect they deserve!"

Thanks for the mighty Jah Parkar for the text.

Collect more vinyls till next week!
