I'm not in LA, nor am I a songwriter, but since Mojam &
Musi-Cal are both concert sites, I figured I'd make people on this
list aware of it. You can submit your concert dates to the sites in a
number of ways. Perhaps the easiest is:
http://www.musi-cal.com/submit-concert.shtml
If you have any questions or problems, let me know.

i'm part of the acid-jazz@ucsd.edu list.
i am a bedroom producer. i mainly work on downtempo and
electronica. i'm also a dj. i'm a big fan of latin/bossa nova. funk,
jazz and soul intrest me, too. all of these types of music
influence my music, though i do not sample breaks or melodies
from my collection of records. i do however use my collection to
find individual samples...audio examples...of different drum kits,
key boards, and various precussion.
this is what i do.

Subject: "The Alaska Festival" Jewel Fans Music Festival at Humphrey's
Here It is folks, the latest news regarding the Music Festival at
Humphrey's by the Bay, San Diego Ca.
Sunday August 19th and Monday, August 20th.
Start Times:
Sunday August 19th
12:00 Noon Until...
Monday August 20th
Immediately Following Jewels Concert, until 2:00 A.M.
You may remember that we needed another venue ( in addition to
Humphrey's
Backstage )
to accommodate everyone who was under 21.
So, I asked the boat club across the street from Humphrey's if we
could use
their ultra-sweet venue for our Gathering/ Music Festival. They told
me I
would have to be a member to use the club. Then the Commodore, Jean,
called me
and invited me to go through their membership ritual.
The ritual being that I attend 2 of their monthly meetings, and there
would be
a third meeting at which I would be absent.
This is where they vote for you. (They vote on Everything)
I have attended both required meetings now, Things have gone quite
nicely and
now I have been invited to attend the third meeting as well.
It is a big food and wine bash and I will be the live entertainment!
So, unless I really screw up this show, the boat club is looking
really good.
The third meeting is Aug. 7, so I will know for sure then if we can
use this
venue.
That's cutting it pretty close to Show Date, but I like a little
excitement
with my coffee.
As additional insurance, I was able to get the reservations for the
Park and
Pavilion across the street from Humphrey's.
(Although I still have to send in the app. and permit fee) It's kind
of cool
because the pavilion directly faces the Artists tour buses.
Being a local show though, Jewel will more likely arrive indiscreetly
in a
Chevy Blazer. You could even come by boat to Humphrey's!
However, if we are using the Boat Club, we really don't need the
Pavilion
except for people to hang out in and play acoustics.
Plus, the Park people are kind of a d a m EMAIL souljazzant about keeping it under 100
guests
unless I pay them $2.50 per person and a security deposit.
They will trip when 1200 Jewel fans show up! I already have
reservations for
over 100.
We can fit 200 inside of Humphrey's, and 150 or so at the Boat Club.
Either way, we will have 2 stages going simultaneously on Sunday, and
One
stage (inside) at Mondays AfterParty withthe fabulous Gregory Page.
Music will be From 12:00 to 6:00 or so on Sunday Aug 19th, I still
need to get
with the Jewel concert producer regarding details about their
scheduling, so
that everything is rapped up for their opening acts.
This gives us about 10 to 12 hours to fill with entertainment. We
have quite
an interesting line-up going already and we are still considering
acts.
OnlineConcerts@home.com for more info.
If you are a performer scheduled to play at the festival you will
soon receive
an e-mail regarding scheduling.
All this time, we haven't really had a name for this
Gathering/Festival.
So, I thought long and hard about it, and I have decided on a name,
and a
theme. I submit them here for your consideration.
I've been studying quite a bit the last few years on environmental
issues,
particularly pertaining to Power and Energy.
As many of you may know, there is a strong effort to re-designate
over 1 million acres of the Alaskan Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
(ANWR) and
allow oil companies to to drill and excavate oil and other resources
in this
pristine wilderness.
Strong lobbying by financially motivated businesses and government
officials,
mean that we the people, must stand up and take responsible control
of our
earths resources.
We MUST stop further devastation of the earths resources, and just as
importantly, we must strive to implement sustainable clean energy
sources.
Electric Cars, Solar and Wind energy are important steps in the right
direction.
Therefore, I have decided to name the upcoming Jewel fans music
festival,
"The Alaska Festival"
The Alaska Festival will serve to bring light upon the issues
concerning
Alaska's National Wildlife Refuge
and the complicated issues concerning Alaska's citizens. It will also
serve to
educate us about the new and wonderful
energy sources available and how they can be used today to begin what
will
become a new way of life for mankind.
A life free of the bonds of energy dependence.
We have quite a line up of performers taking shape.
Music from lots of different Genres will keep it interesting all day.
Performers will Include;
The WaterGypsies
Jennifer McBride and Sweet Duration
Gregory Page
Miss Kitty (New Orleans Funk and Jazz)
Mike Carmona
Tiamo De Vettori
Alex Esther
Erin Waters ( http://ErinWaters.com )

Speakers:

2 time San Diego Mayoral Candidate and Author of the critically
acclaimed book
"Achieving Eco-nomic Security on Spaceship Earth," Jim is the founder
of the
Ecological Life Systems Institute and one of the worlds foremost
experts on
environmental issues.
The Alaska Festival
2 Day Live Music Festival
All Day Festival, Sunday Aug 19th
The After-Party with Gregory Page
Immediately after Jewel Monday Aug 20th
Humphrey's by the Bay
San Diego, California
P.S You may wonder why I write such drawn out descriptions of the
things
pertaining to the development of these events. It is because I want
to show by
positive example, not only that it is possible to live your dreams,
but also
how it is possible.
I encourage everyone to just go after your dreams. If you want to do
something, just do it!
Do you Want to do a big show at this or that club? Go tell the owner.
It takes
a lot of planning and other stuff after that, but once you get it
rolling, the
momentum carries you through and (something, Luck? God?) guides you
in the
right direction..
Of course this not only applies to musical endeavors, but to all
aspects of
life.
Opportunity is something you create, and it begins with a dream.
