but how else can we know if the film failed or not if we don't compare its intent with its actual content? what it sets out to do might be noble, but if it does not achieve it, then it's a fluke. meanwhile, it can be salvaged if the audience picks up something that is worthwhile from it, even though it wasn't part of the original intent. but then again, if its intent is to get loads of money from the box office and it succeeds -- then, well, it's a commercially successful film :)
meanwhile, it's hard to compare indies and commercial films, and to judge them purely on content, because it's their intent that spells out the difference between them big time.
i don't really know if any of this is related to acid jazz or music as a whole! just putting in my two cents' worth :)
