    a dubplate is a playable record made of acetate (far more malleable than
    vinyl), with a very limited lifespan and usually pressed as a one-off. dj's
    who have tunes they can't afford to press 500 copies of can cut a
    one-of-a-kind dubplate of the track, usually for $30-60 for a 10" or 12",
    from a record pressing plant that does such things.
