hey there Velanche,
I asked my friend Preet who is a fellow programmer at CKLN and also is the main
tech head behind our website, live streaming etc. Here's what he had to say. I
hope it helps or at least points you to a good starting point. Take care and good
luck.

Hi Denise,
Shoutcast is the easiest server to set up. It takes two steps. Install the
server, and stream to it.
The server install is very easy. There is a configuration file that holds
information like how many concurrent sessions to support and what the admin
password is. That is really easy. The server starts very easily as well.
The tricky part is getting the content to the server to stream. For this you need
winamp with a special plugin. This is a *%^&% to get working. At CKLN we just
fiddled and fiddled until it worked. Basically it reads the soundcard and encodes
the input (from a radio) and then sends it up to the shoutcast server. No magic
bullets, just perseverance. I do know that the process is different for each
sound card. This is because devices fight over who gets to read the input from
the microphone.
Hope this helps.
