First time I heard "Transcend Me" my reaction was "Omigosh - best
broken beat ever". I've calmed down a bit since, but I still rate
it pretty highly. But then I'm not a DJ and don't have to make a
business case for liking the records I like. Do all these records
_have_ to be rated on how well they will work in a club? OK, I know
there are a lot more DJs on this list than there used to be.
I have to confess I'm still in two minds about the NSM album - some
of the tracks are growers, but quite a bit of it I can currently
take or leave. I'm not blown away by the production, and the tunes
aren't quite there. Sure, "The Sun" is nice, but take a listen to
Frank McComb's album for a reality check. No-one's ever going to
call it cutting edge (be warned - it's kind of easy listening) but
contains a lot better songs than "The Sun". I can't answer the
question of how well it'll do on the dancefloor though - you tell
me.
