Actually, could be! US Copyrights before 1976 were, if I recall 26 years,
renewable. In '76, the US changed the law to be the life of the author + 50
years, conforming to the practice of much of Europe.
(I know of at least one world-famous European author, who, assuming the law
in the US was the same as it was in Great Britain, failed to renew his
copyright. Hence, it fell into the public domain in the US after 26 years,
and lots of different publishing houses put out editions of his work, with
no recompense to his heirs.)
So, '73 +26 = '99, unless of course, it was renewed. (BTW, I imagine some
corporation somewhere owns rights to the cover art, and the enclosed
platter?)
