Bought a copy of Ian Simmons' latest Lp today called "Return to the X".
This album is highly recommended. Very very good arrangements. I went for
it on the comparison of his Juryman album I read from this group to Two
Banks of Four. I am totally satisfied. Lots of lush and spacey new
soundscapes and it has some beats i've been wanting to hear, attempting to
describe to the guys at the store but not doing well enough. This is one of
the best albums I've bought in some time. Looking for a jazz sound, dope
beats, and atmospheric sounds? Check this one. Very nice home listening.
Comparable to Cinematic Orchestra's Motion Lp as well.
also picked up.
Alpha Omega - Nu Wave EP (Reinforced)... very recommended. Similar to the
stuff under the Nubian Mindz alias. Nice drum n bass track on it too with
Public Enemy sounds and vocal sample "dont believe the hype", plus a sample
of wookie's "down on me me me me... oooh". Don't usually buy drum n bass,
but come on it's Reinforced, and i knew there'd be some special stuff, it
being Alpha Omega and all.
Cinematic Orchestra Remixes (Ninja Tune) - I was dissapointed with this one.
It's ok, but no where near as good as the stuff on the Motion album. I
already had the remix of Guauanco on 12" which is probably the best song on
the LP. Anyway, I could've done with out this one.
Da Lata - Pra Manha Remixes (Palm Pictures) - Wow. The IG Culture Mix is
some other shit. All the remixes on here are excellent. Plus an
instrumental of each track!
Any words on these???
Christian Charles - Interferences/Jazzanthrope (Plein Gaz Productions)
Shazz - Afro Disiac (Denote Records)
Q Project - Social life/ Stability (Narcotix)
Peace.
