    >Same thing with people in the USA calling themselves Americans........I
    >guess America extends all the wy to Argentina.

I've heard this before....but, as a person who lives and was born in United
States of America, how should I call my self to be politically correct?

I call myself PURPLE HAZE. Borders, Countries, Philosophies and all the
muck. I feel that David Bowie Trent Reznor Song coming on, "I'm afraid of
Americans, I'm afraid of the World"

      I
don't agree w/ alot of practices USA uses to get it's way,

I throw in the rest of the globe into the pot.

    but I use the
word "American" as a physical locator,

Yeah and so do I yet I sort of say French-American because it seems to be a
very popular gig for everyone in their friiggin mother to aanounce their
heritage to a place they have never been and don't even speak the tongue, I
stand accussed and I plead guilty. Isn't wrong for me to negate my Mother's
said of the lineage of Scot-Irish, am I being to un-matriacrhial? Probably
so yet is it hard pleasing everyone? Yes. Is it difficult offending
    everyone? Nope!

as opposed to a philisophical one,

I am so curious what is the Philosophy of the USA or American's. I was born
and raised here South "By God" Carolina yet I have never fit into the
mainstream of the cultural or political setting. Also include music too,
ACID JAZZ? "What the Hell is That Boy?" "You ain't from around here are
    you?"

    b/c I'm in the USA.

    "Born in the USA"
"I was Born In the USA"

And I loved it when the Boss told Reagan and his cronies to go piss up a
rope when they tried to steal that song to use in their Right Wing
Puritanical Endeavors. Way to Go Bruce!!!!!

Should I call myself a "United States of American"
    person?

If you are nice then it would be alright. We need more nice folks on these
shores!!!! We need more nice things and less violence. We need to have
less folks being picked oon at school so they won't one day bring in a
weapon and start John Wayne-ing the place.

It just doesn't work. It just happens to be that my country of
origin has the same name as the continent, I can't help that.

So I get it someone was implying that we someone calls themselves "American"
they are negating folks from Canada, Latin America, Central America and
South America. How could we "Americans" be so thoughtless. On behalf of
those who are guilty of that ZENOphobic crime I awould like to
    apologize......

      And you're
right it's all really America, but so is Canada.

Now, Now, Now!!!! Them Canadiens are a vicious bunch and they'll come
across the borders and take our cars that no one buys. They will hord our
awesome social programs and take them back to Quebec. I saw it in a movie
called "Canadian Bacon" with John Candy on Comedy Central, Oh the Horror, Oh
    the Horror!!!!!!!!

      It's tough b/c an
Argentinian, living in Argentina, may call them selves "South American".

Nah!!!! They are too busy celebrating that they are Argentinians.

But an Argentinian who lives in USA can call themselves a "South American"
too. So the term can take on misleading dualities.

Misleading Dualities?!!!!!! I am getting excited now!!! I love it when
someone tell me I am looped becuase of my tendency to say "Isn't it all
relative and in a constant state of change". Where is the definite answers
in the game of life? "Regis, I'd like to poll the audience, I'd like to use
    a lifeline".

I've heard this arguement used a as a divider or in an angry context against
    USAmericans,

I am very curious, there are folks out there angry at Americans? Hell!!!
Fire!!!! We have to stop this soon before Air Strikes are Called in!!!!!

but I've also heard it used as a positive arguement. I think
it was in a Califanes song, they said, "Anyone who lives on the continents
of North and South America are all "americans" so, we are all one people,
and we should focus on what we have in common, not what's different, for
    positive purposes."

then we could get into the beauty of "differences" vs. the value of
    "sameness"...

    Diversity ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To quote Mike Myers former funny man of Saturday Night Life, "If it isn't
    Diverse, Its CRrrrrrrrrrap!!!!

but I think I'll just stick to music instead.

I am with you so bad. I am getting very stoked that Maxwell's new CD is
coming out soon. I am still trying to soak in the Bugge Wesseltoft's "New
Conception of Jazz" CD I recently recieved. I really dig tracks 1 and track
    6 yet...........................................
The Martine Girault's CD single "Revival" oh Yeah!!!!!! Simply AWESOME!!!
Happy Trails and hopefully this Cultural bickering will subsided and
everyone will start posting Essential Downtempo Recommendations.

    Semper Motociclismo,

    Pace'
