Chillout 2 step comes to mind. =) Not quite dancefloor oriented. It's pretty
sweet, i think i'm personally feeling the hip-hop mix though.

Subject: Sweet as Cuki 25.03.01
25.03.01 Week 12
A massive bundle of records in my box this morning some
I know absolutely awesome! I'm holding them down for next
week though as this chart ready to be launched into
cyberspace. Hold tight for next week.
Sad news from London town! Atlas records in Archer St,
Soho ceased trading at the weekend. Atlas has always
prided itself on the outstanding service to the DJ and
general musical community. It has been a favoured haunt
for most of the vinyl and music junkies of London town
and DJ's who come in from abroad. Of all the shops in
town, Atlas was certainly the friendliest and most sociable.
It also covered the most bases! I'm sure you would like to
join me in wishing Pete and John and the rest of the crew
the very best for the future and to thank them for their years
of musical and sociable pleasure.
Shouts to Jake at Xtreme records. Do check out another
excellent compilation on this label. This time, the turn of
the Attica Blues crew putting together some of their favoured
past and present musical treats. This label always coming
through with the very best comps.
Shouts this week to the Earth Project crew and in particular
Felix. Of all the new labels doing the rounds, Earth Project
certainly pulling the most punches and getting the most feets
on the floor! Now on number 004 (Waiwan feat Loretta
Heywood) which hits the shops this week, If you've missed
out on the other three releases then get to your local vinyl
emporium very soon. To check out all the tracks, jump to
http://www.earthproject.com/tracklist9.htm for a listen to
what you missing.
Shouts to Darren and the Ninji Tune crew.Holding tight
for the Chris Bowden twelve, which will no doubt be in
Cuki's next chart. Do also check out the awesome

To incrediblesexysweetass21yearoldexhousegirlie!
Who could say such nice 'tings'?
#### #### This weeks chart #### ####
1. Modaji - S/T (Laws of Motion) 2xLP
Still Number 1! 21st century soul boy Dominic
Jacobson finally delivers his first long player! He's
come along way since the days of 'Starburst over Orion'.
He's also matured into one of the finest producers and
songwriters around. I'm still feeling very proud to be
charting this record number 1.Respect DHJ.
2. Nathan Haines - Sound Travels (Chilli Funk) 2xLP
Again, so pleased to have all tracks on vinyl. Nathan's
album already destined for classic status. Time will travel
but this long player will live long in our spirits and record
boxes for sure. Infinite journey indeed. The first of many
great albums we hope! Get down to 'Flying' in Dean St.
3. India.Arie - Acoustic Soul (Motown) CD & 12"s
Kedar Massenburg and Co deliver another quality soulful
superstar. India's vocals and songwriting taking it to the
next level. This CD didn't leave my player all weekend. The
sampler twelve and the offical new twelve in 'Brown Skin'
also wearing out my stylus!
4. Loqate - Miracles (Recloose remix)(Ubiquity) 12"
Main man Matt Chicoine adds another twist to another
Bugz / Orin Walters disguise in Loqate. Just when you
thought it was safe to step off the dance floor and get
yourself a drink, along comes this! Two excellent and
fearless producers, one excellent and adventurous
label. More than enough said.
5. Psyco on da Bus - V/T (Comet) 2xLP
We supported this back last year on CD-R format but
we get the vinyl and give it another bolt. Tony Allen,
Doctor L, Jeff Kellner, Jean-Phi Dary and Cesar Anot
on a bus, on a tour, on a Afro Funk mission! This is
exactly what the title says 'Psyco'! We're on da bus!
6. V/T - Folky (Spectrum Works) CD-R
Acoustic music in digital times! Awesome collection
of new bizniz from suspects such as Scuba, Zero 7,
Les Gammas, Victor Davis. We also digging such
artists as Otto Lamani and Lief too. Pull up a comfy
chair and leave your dancing shoes in the corner!
7. Afronaught - Transcend Me (Apollo) 12"
Soon come! Soon come! Hold on boys and girls.
Whites about so the finished article only days
away! Get ready also for the O-Dawg album to
compliment this excellent twelve.
8. YMC - Jazzmatic (Alola) 12"
Not sure of the origin of this! Maybe Scandinavian!
One for sure, it's the slickest piece of techie house
I got in my box at the mo! Anybody got any info?
9. Marcus Worgull - Ole EP (Spectrum Works) 12"
Marcus Who? Not for long! Spectrum Works come
good again and this time we take note of a new kid
on the block in Marcus Worgull. Quality vocal ride too
with Julie Messenger on the 'Havin a Dig' track. More
Germanic broken beat jazzer biz!
10. Difusion - Illusive Angel (Solaria) 12"
Venom and Uncle get it done with this deep and vibrating
sound off! Somewhere between Drum n Bass and West
London broken beats! A bunch of Viper/Venom stuff
sounding off very soon! Vinyl sounding super phaaaat!
11. Fertile Ground - Perception (Counterpoint) 2xLP
Baltimore's best kept secret is official out on vinyl.
Those who had CD's two years back know the story.
Those who don't, need what is a truly moving and
spiritual experience. Respect to Counterpoint for
getting on the case.
12. Sepia - Age of Cool (Underground Evolution) CD-R
Taking from the unreleased 'City of Strangers' album.
This cuts the mustard in a similar vein to last years
stunning 'Surrender' track that some many peeps missed
out on! Sepia outta Chicago and one of the true secrets
of the left hand lane!
13. Vikter Duplaix - Manhood (Rima remix)(Groove Attack) CD-R
Domu teaming up with the Volcov to produce an excellent
twisted version of one of last years classics. Nuff said when
you team these three together. Rima ready to roll!
14. Koop - V/T (Superstudio) 10"
Nuff waltz and bossa bizniz going on here! 3 track sampler
from the forthcoming album including last years blinding
'Waltz for Koop'. Hold tight for a excellent album too.
15. V/A - Visions Sampler (Visions) 2x12"
Alex Attias and friends give us an awesome double
pack of future jazz licks. Featuring Jessica Lauren,
Domu, Stephane Attias with Vanessa Freeman and
the Volcov man gets serious too.
16. Ray Mang & Pete 2 - Praia Do Londres (R&S) 12"
Nice rolling percussive rhythms and with a certain deepness
that brings a warmth and sincerity to the tune. Pitch it down
little and slip gently into modes of hypnotism too! If you
enjoyed Chaser's 'Life in Loiasada' then check this.
17. Cassandra Wilson/Angelique - Voodoo (Joe Claussell mix)(Blue Note) 12"
Tribal chanting and percussive rhythms on this twelve!
Nippon Nik will be straight on the phone! Cassandra's
husky vocal chords as ever stealing the show.
18. Sunshine Anderson - Heard it all before (Atlantic) 12"
Another outstanding piece of R n B just about to hit the
streets. We've gone all this time without quality soulful
superstars blessing our earlobes, then bucket loads
arrive on your door! I knew Erykah and D'Angelo would
bring on the new breed.
19. Nos - Green Mist (Zest) 12"
Another outstanding B-side from Zurich. More edgy beats
and deep chords from the new label on the block. Look
out for the 'lime'! There's also a 'kiwi' doing the rounds!
By the summer we'll have a greengrocers!
20. Mark de Clive-Lowe - Day by Day (DJ Spinna mix)(Universal Jazz) 12"
Slick job by one of New York's finest hip hop producers.
This though on a mid tempo drifter. New Zealand to
New York to New Jazz. Restless Soul get all Caribbean
in the package too with 'El Dia Perfecto'.
21. Jazztronik - Inner Flight (Counterpoint) 2xLP
This not coming through Flower recordings but through
Brighton's Counterpoint label. Japanese fusion exponents
deliver a slice of new and some older sought after
recordings on two mighty slices of vinyl.
22. Kaidi Tatham - Betcha (Original/Son of Scientist mix)(Bitasweet) CD-R
Kaidi letting loose with more mad West London side
stepping! Forget two step, this is twenty two step!
Check soon for more Bitasweet productions coming
through.
23. Reel People feat Nathan Haines - Spiritual (Papa) 12"
Man of the moment Nathan Haines guests on this
warm and soothing slice of quality house music,
from we believe the Chilli Funk stable.
24. Julie Dexter - The Plan (Main Squeeze) 12"
IG Culture production with the soulful overtones of
now Atlanta resident Julie Dexter. 3 quality mixes
including the awesome 'Bruk Stepper'.
25. Ne Grove - Let it Ride (House mix)(Pure Filth) 12"
Leroy, Marcus and the crew give us a West London
classic with new house vibes! Super dance floor
friendly and with new vocals by Mr Begg. Silk
production as always with 'soul' as the source.
26. Wai Wan & Loretta Heywood - Feelin' Me Feelin' You (Earth Project) 12"
Earth Project going the same way as 'People' records!
Basically from strength to strength. Excellent package in
EP004 including a awesome Atjazz remix. Ms Heywood
as ever, delivering super strong vocals.
27. Dennis Ferrer & Jehlaz - Jehlaz (Ibadan) 2xLP
Deep and soulful house excursion from a excellent
Ibadan compilation by Kerri Chandler and Jerome
Syndrome called 'Saturday'. Jehlaz the deepest cut
and worth the price tag alone.
28. Zero Crossing - Missed Torsion (Remixes)(Spinning Wheel) 12"
Well, I had a listen to the flip and Gorden Bennet, There's a
Domu broken beat biscuit to contend with the TAOS A side!
I need to listen to my records more closely! Respect
Spinning Wheel, respect Mr Stanton.
29. Two Banks of Four - Homegirl (Sirkus) CD-R
Proper song, proper production! Beautifully sung by Valerie
Ettiene. A story told indeed! If you enjoyed 'Sweet Lullabies'
and 'The Birds Sing' then you need to look out for this. Get
ready for 'Moving' track too!
30. MJ Cole - Tired Games (Nu Yorican Soul mix)(Talkin Loud) 2x12"
Louie Vega & Kenny Dope in their Nu Yorican guise
adding another quality remix to their massively
impressive list of quality productions. Nu Yorican as
always on the more latin, percussive tip.
#### #### Coffee compliment this week #### ####
Well, I had to take time out from the brand new India Aria
album to bring you this weeks Java Joint.
Lonnie Liston Smith - 'Astral Travelling'
Flying Dutchman FD 10163 (1973)
Lonnie's first album as a leader and a new band to boot.
The Cosmic Echoes included James Mtume, David Lee,
Cecil McBee, Joe Beck and George Barron who played
the wonderful soprano sax this album. Beautiful tablas
from Badel Roy also making this the deepest of all
Lonnies albums. Check awesome tracks like 'Astral
Travelling' 'Let us go into the house of the Lord' and the
