First, it's got a really cool cover.
Second, what Wynton Marsalis is to Louis Armstrong, Breakestra is to James Brown, the Meters, etc. This is a very loving reworking of a bygone era of funk, and every detail seems in place.
Is it original? No. Does its retro-ocity border on the scary, kind of like a late nite alone in a wax museum? Maybe. Can it rock a party, or a car system on an upcoming road trip (to the Coachella valley festival, maybe)? Hell yeah....
