Hi Simon,
i think I have the perfect combination to start with for you.
I am using Fruityloops at home in combination with Sonic Foundries ACID.
The first one is a kind of Rebirth only ten times better and with much more
options and control over individual parameters. U can upload your own
drumsamples (.wav format) or any other samples whatsoever(i.e. your voice,
sampled loops ..;-) It has received multiple awards in various magazines
(Future Music, Computermusic!) when it was compared with ,among others,
Rebirth.
You have an infinite number of channels (i.e. samples) depending on your
processor, RAM.
Next to that you have (in the newest version) about 4 softsynths to play
with and multiple fx plugins per channel (i.e. sample). If you order
BEATSLICER with it, it will give you the ability to cut up a drumloop, the
program will place each hit on a different channel on the right spot so the
drumloop sounds the same (sound + timing) but now you can edit or replace
each individual hit to your own liking (delay, eq, filters, ADSR, reverb)
etc. Really its a marvelous package and you can buy it online for just US$
35,- !!!!
ACID is a loop based program which I havent really had the time to get into
yet. But it has the best
timestretch algorhythm I've heard so far (better than our US$3000,- Emu
sampler!!!!) I dont know if you can buy it online though.
Well...check www.fruityloops.com download the demo, put some time in it and
you'll LOVE it. For sure!!
For ACID I dont know :-(
Hey All,
I have been on the decks for the last 10 or so years and the urge is now
upon me to create something of my own. I am looking for some *basic*
software that will allow me to create my own deep house/drum 'n bass tunes.
At this stage I am not willing to throw much money at it, as I would prefer
to see just how I get along and take it from there. So something that is
either shareware or freeware would do for now. I have mucked about on
Rebirth RB-338 2.0, however I find that I can't quite get the b-lines as
deep and funky as I would like. Too much 303 craziness on offer there!
Also I would prefer it if the programme is downloadable as opposed to
bought
over the counter.
I am completely new to this, so any tips/suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.
I have a Dell Optiplex GX110 PIII 667mhz PC with a 10GB hardrive and 128KB
RAM.
Thanks,
Simon
