I would definitely recommend both GBA "West Coast Boogaloo" and Greboy's
"Land
of the Lost" which are in my opinion 2 of the best contemporary acid jazz
records.
The Live album mentionned is very good as well (with a great version of
"Check
out your mind"). Also try to find the Karl Denson "The D stands for Diesel"
with Andy Bey as a guest!
If you're more into downtempo though you'd probably prefer Greyboy's albums,
the Greboy Allstars being more of live jazz-funk band.
I friggin love Downtempo and Spacey Ambient Dubbish Acid Jazz so I'll look
for the Greyboy's Albums. I am groovin' to Cinematic Orchestra's -Motion-
right now!!! Damn I love that one!!! It sort of reminds me off traveling
by train from Fussi Shi to Ueno during the winter when I was flying into
Japan. Epsecially at night when there would be sleet in the air, the neon
lights of Tokyo's Suburbs would flas by as the train went by, it was very
Ridley Scott Blade Runner-esque. Ah those were the days going to the
Motorcycle Capitol of the planet in Ueno. You know I hear DJ Krush lives
nearby in Shinjuku. Gotta go visualize that "Hey Pretty" video I saw one
MTV-2 by POE, SWEET!!!!!!
Semper Motociclismo,
Pace'
Yann.
