The new albums continue to roll in.....

Once again I find myself writing about the very prolific Kirk
Degiorgio, who seems to appear on at least one album or compilation
per week. This time, it's his Offworld project (featuring the members
of Azymuth) that gets the limelight and deservedly so. If you're a
fan of As One or his other productions, you'll enjoy this additional
foray into futuristic nu-soul. It's as least as good, if not better.

I finally got my hands on 4 Hero's "Creating Patterns" and it was
entirely worth the wait. Picking up where 1998's "Two Pages" left
off, Mark Mac and Dego mash up the musical styles with soul, jazz,
drum 'n bass, 2-step and more. Guest vocalists include Jill Scott,
Mark Murphy and Terry Callier. Dego and Kaidi Tatham also throw down
a massive broken beat track via 12" called "Trash Da Junk," under the
    pseudonym Da One Away.

Speaking of Kaidi Tatham, the Bugz In The Attic crew put their heads
together and came up with Homecookin': "Do What You Wanna."
Daz-I-Kue, Seji, Mark de Clive-Lowe and others surprised me by coming
up with a pretty straight-ahead funk album that only ventures into
broken beat territory towards the end of the disc.

There's more soul from LTJ Bukem's Cookin' label and its latest
artist compilation, "Soul Addiction." The only problem with this one
is deciding which track to play.

Until next week, ciao for now!
    David
