  • Next message: Wax on and off: "Zero 7 - US release"

Not too many new releases this week, which means we'll be digging
deeper into the already overflowing music stash and drag out some
good stuff that's been on deck for some time now.

We finally have the Gotan Project and Domu albums, both of which are
excellent. A colleague of mine (a DJ and pretty knowledgeable when
it comes to music) was dumbfounded when I tried to explain the sound
of the Gotan Project to him (Astor Piazolla + dub + beats). He wasn't
understanding it, but anyone who's heard them usually gets it right
away. Of all the broken beat albums being released, Domu's has to
rank as one of the best. Valerie Ettiene and Ian O'Brien make guest
appearances and Dominic Stanton's drum programs are complex and deep.
    Tasty stuff.

Bjork's "Pagan Poetry" is available as two different singles, each
with remixes and new tracks. One features a radical rework by Matthew
Herbert and a new mix of "Aurora" by Opiate, while the second disc
features two new songs: "Domestica" and "Batabid."

Ticket giveaways tonight include Mandrill / Sugarman 3 at the Great
American, Swayzak at the Justice League and Mr. Scruff appearing at
111 Minna, so be sure to tune in.

    That's it for this week,
    Ciao for now!

    David
