It's more jazzy, funky, raw and focused than their last last [poppy] effort.
It's completely instrumental and often compared to some of the rare groovers
on Blue Note in the late 60s/early 70s. While I agree with those
comparisions, it sounds more modern and could be compared to The Greyboy
Allstars and even The Meters in places.
Bottom line is that it is excellent. It will definately make my Top 10 list
for 2001. In fact, it will probably be my top jazz pick of the year (with
Charlie Hunter's latest in a close second).
