This past Friday I had the pleasure of taking Titonton Duvante down to Puerto Rico to play at a party down there. It was no ordinary party because it was held inside a cave that is 3 million years old. Well let me tell you the man was on fire. Despite one of the turntables being sort of fucked up, the man ripped it. He started off playing broken beat, and then techno. He wasn't just throwing records though, he was turntablizing both genre's with ninja stealth. He had everyone inside that cave with there jaws on the floor. I honestly as a resident of Miami, have never seen anyone spin broken beat (except myself, if that counts). I mean there was a dope party down here during Winter Music Conference, but that is it. It was a wake up call to Puerto Rico too. Many people down there don't have the oppurtunity to hear music that, crappy local promoters usually only bring trance and drum and bass artists. Not to put down drum and bass as a !
whole, but the genre is pretty stale right now, except for a handful of artists. So to me this was a delicious treat, and if Titonton comes around your way, I suggest you go see what real underground talent is.
