    Dear Stephanie,

Funny you should ask about Puerto Rico. I just played down there myself. I
was contemplating staying for the party in the Cave (it seemed too damn
cool) but it didnt work out with the ticketing.

Anyways you're asking about gigs in PR. Pedro is right in saying that most
of the promoters in the electronic circuit down there are big into trance
and drum & bass. But there is one man, Pablo Rodriguez, who has great
vision musically and is really opening up the island to the sounds of jazz
    electroniques.

He owns a coupla bars in the old San Juan district. He's got a small but
loyal following of Jazzheads, and a crew of very talented DJs: Ausubo,
Dirty Old Man, and Nature, and a few others. Nature is an ill hip hop DJ.
Ausubo and Dirty old Man represent the jazzy funky broken side of thing.
all the guys are incredibly nice and full of love of good music.

If you are heading to Puerto Rico for a vacation I highly recommend you
look up this guy. His bars are:
Candela on Calle San Sebastian (Good music any nite of the week)
La Rumba on Calle San Sebastian ( Live shows, mostly salsa, off the
    meter!)
and Don Pedro (which has an excellent hip hop night on Thursdays and a
    special drink called Papajac)

He also has a record label, Tenet Records, with recording artists Local 12
(whose song "Oye Me" we licensed for Turntables on teh Hudson Vol 3)

Also, if you are thinking of going for a vacation in late december or
January, you should head straight to PR for the San Sebastian street
festival which is a kind of Mardi Gras (but an undiscovered,
uncommercialized one) where people party in the street and hop from bar to
    bar.
Pablo will be having a month straight of great music, with Osunlade coming
down to DJ for a week, Antonio Ocasio (house producer of Borinquen
origen), Jephte Guillame, and lots of other very important musicians in
    the Jazz/House world.

If you want to get his newsletters (in spanish) just drop him an email:
    pablo@tenetrecords.com

Definitely a scene on the rise down there! Big Up!

    peace,
    Nat
