I was definitely feeling the grooves on the Mushroom Jazz 3 compilation.
The flow was definitely in a hop-hop, downtempo style. Makes for great
listening at night.
I also liked Om Lounge 5, which was better than the previous volume. It,
too, is a nice late-night listen all the way through (with just a few
bumps along the way).
I can't speak for the overall quality of Om during this year, though
other labels (IMO) have definitely eclipsed them in terms of consistent
quality. Ming & FS's "The Human Condition" was alright, but there were
plenty of hits-and-misses to keep it off my 30 Most Recommended Albums
of 2001.
I'm in no rush for "Mixed Illusions" (though the Landslide Mix was a
nice groove), and hopefully Om will up the quality ante next year.
