What happened to good jazzy funky and clever Hiphop now?

Based on Marco's feedback, I totally agree that hiphop aint what it used to
be. It sounds like they are all trying to go into new territory yet it all
    sounds so bland and repetitive.

I love old Prince Paul, De La , Richie Rich (Gee St UK not Def jam one),
Cookie Crew, Boomb The Bass, Jungle, Tribe etc. They were all sample heavy,
funky and uptempo. This is not to say the deeper (oops that term again)
hiphop is not on my list of favs. I am a huge trip hop listener too.

The new stuff that is getting a lot of play at home and in my sets would be
Talib Kweli, J5, Madlib, Guru, Miss E, early Rawkus, iLL boogie records,
Roots Manuva, Cut Chemist, Shadow, all the Grooveattack releases, Rahzel,
Roots etc etc etc you know what I am talking about.

My question is, what others are out there that I might be so unlucky to have
missed. You know the underground tracks that are somewhat rare if you live
    in Hong Kong.

A new compilation of artists I havent come across before is Substance's
Lyric Superbrand..with Creative habit, Mad Flow, Elementz,....amazing jazzed
    up hiphop!!!.

Where can I get Prefuse 73 on vinyl on the net? I have had Clouddead for 6
months now and I still haven't opened it to play yet.

Enough of babbling. I just needed to get this out.

    Cheers,

    Calvin.
