Love from the sun?: Last Monday, a series of solar flares erupted and
scientists predicted that there would be global interference in
electrical signals and radio waves during the following two days
(true). After listening to the tape of last week's program, it would
appear that those scientists were spot on, as you will notice some
unwanted noise in the archive of FreeFall #62. Sorry 'bout that.....
In other news, Live365 is in the process of moving their datacenter,
so those of you who listen to the archives should notice improved
streaming quality in the very near future. However, this means that
there may be some temporary disruption during non-peak hours (PST).
Additionally, if you've bookmarked FreeFall in a third-party audio
player, you'll have to return to the Live365 directory to reset your
bookmarks.
In the box: Another one of those weeks where I'm already frustrated
by the sheer volume of new material to play, vs the two hours of
actual air time. Here are records that you may or may not hear:
Albums: Lamb: "What Sound" - an advance six-track sampler from the
forthcoming album that's out in the UK next week (no U.S. release
date yet).....TJ Rehmi: "Invisible Rain" - a beautiful multi-cultural
mix of East Asian-influenced grooves....."Arabian Travels" - the
latest compilation from Six Degrees exploring the influence of the
Middle East on dance culture.....The New Deal: S/T - exciting
progressive house and breakbeats recorded live by this new Canadian
act....Thunderball: "Scorpio Rising" - sensuous, soulful and sinister
sounds from this D.C. duo's latest for Eighteenth St. Lounge.
Singles galore from: Wagon Cookin', Marc Moulin, Freeform Arkestra,
Q-Burns Abstract Message, Interference, Break Reform, Herbert, Ursula
Rucker and last but not least, Fertile Ground remixed by Wai Wan and
Kaidi Tatham (excellent).
That's is for this week....ciao for now!
David
